About the Founder:
Professional athlete and health advocate Maggie Lena founded MAGMA FOCUS in 2025 in Los Angeles. Lena grew up in Southern California and started chasing her dream of being a professional soccer player at four years old. Her hunger for the game and passion for health equity led her to earn a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences at Marquette University in Milwaukee, where she played NCAA D1 soccer (2017-2021). From there, Lena played for West Chester University in Pennsylvania, where she received her Masters in Public Health and led WCU’s women’s soccer team to their first NCAA Championship Game (2021-2023).
Throughout her higher education, Lena worked as an athletic academic mentor and tutor for six years, liaising between student-athletes, faculty, and coaches to support athletes’ academic collegiate careers. Lena was the first ever Vice President of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion at Marquette’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) where she coordinated events and created educational materials for student-athletes and faculty to engage in conversations around social justice.
Lena competed in the 2021 Maccabiah Games, where she helped the United States women’s soccer team win a gold medal and was named Tournament MVP. This launched her professional career, starting with FC Kiryat Gat, where she competed in the 2023 UEFA Champions League and won the 2022 Israeli Women’s Premier League. Lena also played for Manila Digger FC (Philippines) and represented Angel City in the 2024 TST 7s Tournament.
